Multimedia Artist Jill Michaels and her drummer husband Ed moved to Joshua Tree in 2016 and settled into a small house on 5 wild acres full of natural plant and animal life. Jill had already enjoyed a fulfilling creative arts career that included selling illustrations to Nordstrom’s in California, as well as The Museum of American Folk Art in Lincoln Center, NY.
The spirited entrepreneur was energized by the region’s magical landscape and created a collection of colorful Joshua Tree scenic illustrations printed on postcards, magnets, canvas totes and wooden art plaques at local art fairs and shops. The hi-desert artist and storyteller explains, “When you live among Jack Rabbits, Joshua trees, endless sunsets and funky old cars on a deserted mesa road, you never run out of inspiration.” Hence, Joshua Tree Art Company was born.
